Part of Speech

Don't you understand much about parts of speech? Or do they make you a little bit confused or frustrated?
You don't have to. Here we provide a brief examples of parts of speech to enhance your understanding about them.

Verb	action or state	(to) be, have, do, visit, work, like, can, must	Bali is an island. Many people like to visit Bali
Noun	thing or person	bag, cat, work, music, town, Jakarta, farmer, Siska	This is my bag. She lives next door. They live in Parapat.
Adjective	describes noun	good, big, red, patient, interesting	The houses are big. The drama is very interesting.
Determiner	limits or "determines" noun	a/an, the, 2, some, many	I have an umbrella and some pair of shoes.
Adverb	describes a verb, adjective or adverb	quickly, silently, well, badly, very, really	The man treats his son badly
Pronoun	replaces noun	I, you, we, they, he, she, it, some	.I meet Mira and Clara at school. They are my classmates
Preposition	links noun to another word	to, at, after, on, but	We go to church on Sunday.
Conjunction	joins clauses or sentences or words	and, but, or, because, when, while, since, although, unless	I like dogs but I don’t like rabbits. Franz was late because he missed the school bus.
Interjection	short exclamation, sometimes inserted into a sentence	oh!, ouch!, hi!, well	Ouch! That hurts! Hi! How are you? Well, I am not sure.
